I wrote this article and I had to translate it, sometimes from French to English, and sometimes in the other way. It was funny, but a f….job to do on Sunday when you’ve got a headache and a son who wants you to help him with his English exercise about a mad magician intending to built his own haunted castle! I wanted my French friends to discover Greg’s passion for nice bikes, and I wanted his friends and family to be able to read his article. Greg expresses himself in an elegant and precise English, and every translation is a betrayal, so I hope mine is not too bad and full of Gallicisms or mistakes. Anyway, I think my words express the idea that we all share the same passion for beautiful bikes.
Greg is a new friend of mine. I had the luck to meet him on the net. I was wandering, surching nice pictures of nice bikes for the blog. And I saw this funny picture of Greg riding his bobber with a tank fixed on his back. It reminded me about my friend Olivier riding his V-Max with a bag full of Handlebars. There was also the name: Greg St Quentin. For me, it souded like “Bret Sainclair” in The Persuaders! I contacted him and this cool English guy with a French name was very kind to answer to a perfect unknown French guy with an English name talking about custom bikes in the middle of Indian Ocean. It appears to us that I’ve got English ancestors and that my french parents live in the city of his French ancestors! Who said it was a big world?
J’adore son boulot. Vraiment classe.
I ‘m found of his painting. It’s a great work. And I told to myself it was time to put in relation local artists like Chakal and cool buddies working somewhere else all over the world, and on other islands. It’s time for this blog to share trust and quality with people who do not know our island. Now, Greg appreciates the work of Chakal. I am very proud of it. And Chakal Kustom Painting is going to discover the art of Black Shuck Kustom, and I just love this idea!
Who are you Greg?
I live in Norwich Norfolk which is in the east of the UK.
Black Shuck Kustom is an innovative custom art and paintwork company, created and operated by myself. At BSK we offer a high level of craftsmanship joined with a passion and dedication to creating pure and original art work specifically designed and developed around each customer’s ideas. Using airbrushing, pin-striping and a wide selection of different techniques BSK designs and creates works for an extensive range of applications. These applications include motorcycles, scooters, car components, bicycles, musical instruments and helmets, with the only restriction being your imagination. We also offer accident damage and restoration repairs for motorcycles. We welcome all opportunities to discuss your personal project requirements and ideas. Design consultations form an initial stage in all our projects to ensure the desired custom art work is achieved.
I went full time with the business last June. Before that I worked for a classic car restorer where I learned how to spray and panel beat, weld, repair etc. I’ve always had a passion for art and motorcycles, growing up on the back of a bike. Custom painted seemed like a very naturally career to fall into.

The famous Claymotocycles QUIZZ!
3. My favourite bike: Some of my favourite bikes have got to be the custom builds at Old Empire Motorcycles, they’re good friends of mine and I paint for them as well. http://oldempiremotorcycles.com/ but for a particular bike I would have to say a Vincent HRD.
4. Why do I ride: I ride for the same same reason I live! For adventure, freedom, happiness, friendships, progression and of course speed, but the list goes on!
5. My favorite storie about bikes: So many stories but some that stay vivid, Riding out one Saturday afternoon with my brother, father and mother all on Harleys after my brother had passed his test, twisting through country lanes and riding through woodland with the sun flickering through the trees. Another one would be when I first finished my Harley and I was at a bike rally. It was just turning dusk and my friend Nigel said come on lets go for a ‘burn'(ride). We rode out of the rally onto the nearest carriage way and I went full throttle for the first time, trying to keep up with Nigel’s tail lights! He had a more powerful bike than me.
6. My worst experience as a biker: it would have to be when my clutch cable snapped on my kawasaki it was the middle of winter and I was on my way to college, it was snowing and there was ice on the road, I went jolting up the road till I reached a red light then had to push the bike the rest of the way. Then lifted it into a van with my dad hurting his back! Not a great day!.
7. I love…love watching flat track racing, especially at sideburns ‘dirt quake’ events, I would love to enter a Black Shuck Kustom bike into the races in the future! I also enjoy going to shows like the bike shed cc events which I have had my paint at..
8. I hate… I hate rain… no explanation needed, there’s too much of it here!
9. The future of bikes for me: simply retro looks with cutting edge technology you cant see!
10. Bikes in one single word: Art..
